What is Chicken Road?
Chicken Road is an instant game from InOut Games, released on 4 April 2024. You walk a chicken across a road toward a golden egg, one manhole cover at a time. Each cover it gets past raises the multiplier on your stake, and you can take the money whenever you like. Step onto the wrong one and the chicken gets fried. Your bet goes with it.
Mechanically it belongs to the crash family. In the official demo in Canadian dollars, bets run from C$0.16 to C$300 and one round pays out at most C$15,000. A casino can set different limits, and they're always listed under Game rules. InOut Games states a return to player of 98%, a few points above the 94 to 96% that most online slots offer. The four difficulty settings change the number of lanes and the risk of getting fried on each step. That's why Easy feels like a slow walk while Hardcore plays more like a scratch ticket.
Results are provably fair. Before you play, the game shows a hash of the server seed that will decide the round, so afterwards you can check it wasn't swapped.
How to play
A round rarely lasts more than a minute. This is the order of things in the game client.
-
Set stake and mode
Enter a bet from C$0.16 to C$300 and pick Easy, Medium, Hard or Hardcore. The manhole covers show that mode's multipliers before you bet.
-
Press Play, then Go
Play places the bet and moves the chicken onto the first cover. Each press of Go takes one more step. In the menu you can also turn on the Space key for walking.
-
Cash out
The Cash Out button shows your stake times the multiplier you're standing on. Press it to bank that amount. If it's above the max win, you get the max win instead.
-
Next round
When the round ends, the chicken goes back to the start. Every game uses a new random client seed, and you can switch mode or stake between rounds.
Play the Chicken Road demo
This is the official demo from InOut Games, the same version casinos run, set to Canadian dollars. You get C$1,000,000 in play money. No sign-up, no deposit, and nothing you win here is real.
The game loads from the InOut Games server only when you scroll down to it, so it doesn't slow the page down. Try 20 or 30 rounds on the mode you're curious about. You'll quickly see how often the chicken gets stopped in the first few lanes.
Difficulty modes and multipliers
Every mode starts small and climbs steeply toward the end. These figures come from the official demo, which runs the 98% version of the game.
| Mode | Lanes | Lane 1 | Lane 5 | Lane 10 | Final lane |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 24 | 1.03x | 1.23x | 1.63x | 19.44x |
| Medium | 22 | 1.12x | 1.98x | 4.96x | 1,788.80x |
| Hard | 20 | 1.23x | 3.36x | 15.21x | 41,321.43x |
| Hardcore | 15 | 1.63x | 15.21x | 890.19x | 2,542,251.93x |
InOut Games doesn't publish the chance of getting fried on each lane, so we don't quote one. Keep the max win in mind as well. With a C$1 bet, the C$15,000 cap kicks in from lane 20 on Hard and from lane 13 on Hardcore, and anything above it is paid as C$15,000.
Chicken Road 2: the sequel
InOut Games released a sequel on 15 April 2025. It's a separate game rather than an update, so casinos list the two side by side.
The idea hasn't changed. You bet, step forward and cash out before things go wrong. The road has, though. This time the chicken crosses a busy street with cars, trucks and police cruisers, and the danger is getting hit, not fried. After every safe step a striped barrier drops behind it and the cover it just left turns gold.
The bigger change is in the numbers. Each mode has more lanes: 30 on Easy, 25 on Medium, 22 on Hard and 18 on Hardcore. Multipliers start lower and finish far higher, up to 3,608,855.25x on Hardcore. You pay for that with a lower return. InOut lists Chicken Road 2 at 95.5% RTP, while the original sits at 98%.
Everything else will feel familiar. The CAD demo takes bets from C$0.16 to C$300 and pays out at most C$15,000 a round. Provably fair works the same way, with a server seed and the client seeds of the first three bets. There's no bonus round.

Chicken Road 2 multipliers
| Mode | Lanes | Lane 1 | Lane 5 | Lane 10 | Final lane |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | 30 | 1.01x | 1.15x | 1.42x | 23.24x |
| Medium | 25 | 1.08x | 1.78x | 3.85x | 2,457.00x |
| Hard | 22 | 1.18x | 2.95x | 12.52x | 62,162.09x |
| Hardcore | 18 | 1.44x | 9.09x | 185.08x | 3,608,855.25x |
The game code also holds 97% and 98% settings, and the casino picks which one to run. Lane 1 on Hard tells them apart: 1.18x at 95.5%, 1.19x at 97% and 1.20x at 98%. With a C$1 bet the C$15,000 cap only matters on the last lane of Hard and from lane 15 on Hardcore.
What strategy can and can't do
The 98% RTP is a long-run average, and no cash-out rule can see the result coming. Each round is fixed by seeds before the chicken takes a step. Where you stop changes how often you win and how much. It doesn't let you beat the house edge.
There are still a few things you do control.
- The mode decides the rhythm. Easy pays small amounts often, Hardcore pays a fortune very rarely. Choose the losing streaks you can live with rather than the biggest number on the screen.
- Stake size matters more than people think. A small bet on Hardcore chasing the last lanes is a lottery ticket, and the max win caps it anyway. The same bet on Easy with early cash-outs can last you all evening. Both are fine if you know which one you've chosen.
- Set a loss limit before the first round and stop when you reach it. The 98% figure is an average across millions of rounds. One session can land far from it.
Be wary of Chicken Road "predictor" apps and Telegram signal channels. They are scams. The outcome of each round is locked by cryptographic seeds before you step, and no app can read them.
How provably fair works
Before you play, the game shows the SHA-256 hash of the next server seed. The round result is then built from that server seed and the client seeds of the first three bets in the round. Your own client seed is random for every game. You'll find both under Provably fair settings in the menu.
- After the round, open My bet history. Each bet there has a fairness check with the server seed, the client seeds and their combined SHA-512 hash.
- Because the server seed hash is shown in advance, the casino can't swap the result after seeing how you play. The house edge is still built in, though. A game can be fair and profitable for the house at the same time.

Where to play Chicken Road in Canada
We don't host the real-money version. InOut Games licenses it to online casinos, and before you deposit at one it pays to check a few things.
- Read the wagering terms on any bonus. A 100% match sounds generous until you see the requirement. 30x on the bonus is reasonable, while 60x on deposit plus bonus almost never turns into cash.
- Verify your ID straight after signing up. Then your first withdrawal won't get stuck waiting on document checks.
Our partner casino
Chicken Road is in the lobby with the demo switched on. New players get a 100% deposit match up to C$500 and 100 free spins, with 30x wagering on the bonus.
19+ (18+ in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec). New players only. Full terms on the operator's site. We get a commission if you sign up through this link (see the note in the footer). Is there a Chicken Road app?
You don't need one. Chicken Road runs inside casino sites, and it works in any up-to-date mobile browser.
- The simplest option is the browser. Open the casino, find Chicken Road in the lobby and play. It works the same on Android and iPhone.
- Some casinos offer their own Android APK. Only install it from the casino's official site, never from a mirror or a link someone sent you on Telegram.
- On an iPhone, open the casino in Safari and tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It will open full-screen, much like an app.
Deposits and withdrawals
Payment methods depend on the casino, not the game. Interac e-Transfer is the one almost every Canadian site supports. You'll also often see iDebit, MuchBetter, Visa and Mastercard debit, and crypto.
- Interac and e-wallets usually pay out within a few hours at good operators. Card withdrawals take one to three business days.
- Credit cards are allowed, but several Canadian banks block gambling charges or treat them as cash advances. That means a fee and interest from day one.
- Withdrawals normally go back to the method you deposited with, so it's worth picking a fast one from the start.
Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the things people ask us most.
What is the RTP of Chicken Road?
98% in the official version, according to InOut Games. Over a very large number of rounds that means about 98 cents back for every dollar staked, though a single session can swing a long way either side. The game code also contains 97% and 92% versions, so a casino may run a lower one. On Hardcore the first lane pays 1.63x at 98%, 1.61x at 97% and 1.53x at 92%.
Can I play Chicken Road for free?
Yes. This page has the official InOut Games demo in Canadian dollars with C$1,000,000 in play money. You don't need to register or deposit.
What is the maximum win?
In the official CAD demo one round pays out no more than C$15,000, and each casino lists its own cap under Game rules. The biggest multiplier is 2,542,251.93x for crossing all 15 lanes on Hardcore, but anything above the cap is paid as the cap.
How is Chicken Road 2 different from Chicken Road?
Chicken Road 2 came out on 15 April 2025. The chicken dodges traffic instead of fire, and each mode has more lanes: 30, 25, 22 and 18. The top multiplier rises to 3,608,855.25x, but the RTP drops to 95.5% from 98%. Both games have official demos on this page.
Is there a Chicken Road app?
You don't need one. The game runs inside casino sites in any mobile browser. Some casinos offer an Android APK, and on an iPhone you can add the casino to your home screen.
Is there a strategy that guarantees a win?
No. Each result is fixed by the server seed and the client seeds before you step, so no stopping rule or app can see it coming. Apps and videos that claim to predict Chicken Road results are scams.
Can I set deposit limits or self-exclude?
Yes. Most casinos let you set deposit limits, take a time-out or close your account for a set period. Look for these options in your account settings. Canada has no single national self-exclusion scheme, so you sign up with each site separately.
How old do I have to be to play?
19 in most provinces. In Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec the minimum age is 18.

Chicken Road is entertainment. On average it costs about 2 cents for every dollar you stake, and Chicken Road 2 about 4.5 cents. Set a budget you can afford to lose. Don't chase losses. The big multipliers are rare events, so treat them that way rather than as a goal. If gambling stops being fun, free and confidential help is available.
